Kim Jin-Wook
Abstract
In this study, we operated a program boosting the capability of teachers of 5-year-olds for educational continuity competence, and we investigated the effects of the program. We assigned 27 teachers to an experimental group and 27 teachers to a control group and performed the program, which was composed of 12 periods; each time slot was 90 minutes long, for a total of 15 hours. We used the scale of the teachers¡¯role in educational continuity competence developed by Jung, Yun, and Lim (2011) and the scale of the ability of daycare teachers developed by Lim (2014). The results show that the teachers participating in the program showed significant positive effects in their ability as an education course planner, basic learning instructor, parent education programmer, social emotion supporter, and instructor of daily life habits in the teacher¡¯s role in educational continuity competence. In addition, they achieved improvement in the
capability of teachers such as the quality of teachers, instructional ability, class management ability, and work performance. As presented in the results, the effectiveness of the program we developed to enhance the capability of teachers of 5-year-olds for educational continuity competence could be verified.
